Basic Raffle Requirements

For raffles with a total ticket value of $20,000 or less, AGLC requires eligible organizations to be approved and obtain the appropriate raffle licence. Total ticket value means the total value of all tickets available for sale. For example, 5,000 tickets priced at $4 each would have a total ticket value of $20,000.

AGLC also requires the licensed organization to establish rules for its raffle and maintain appropriate ticket and financial controls.

Before applying for your licence, you should know details such as:

  • The number of tickets you plan to sell
  • The price of each ticket
  • The type of raffle
  • The prizes and their retail values
  • The draw date and location
  • Expected expenses, including ticket printing and advertising

AGLC has additional rules covering ticket sales, advertising, draw procedures, prizes, raffle proceeds, expenses, cancellations, record keeping and financial reporting.

Grafix Media prints the tickets, but the organization running the raffle is responsible for obtaining its licence and making sure its raffle and ticket information meet current AGLC requirements.

If your total ticket value is more than $20,000, different licensing requirements apply. Check with AGLC before having your tickets printed.

AGLC: Raffles with a Total Ticket Value of $20,000 or Less

For raffles with a total ticket value of $20,000 or less, eligible Alberta non-profit, charitable, and religious organizations must obtain an AGLC raffle licence and follow AGLC requirements for ticket sales, prizes, draws, and financial controls. Before printing or selling raffle tickets, confirm your organization’s eligibility and licence requirements with:

AGLC: Raffle Terms & Conditions

For Alberta raffles, licensed charitable organizations must follow AGLC’s Raffle Terms & Conditions, which cover requirements for ticket sales, advertising, draws, prizes, expenses, proceeds, record keeping, and other aspects of running a raffle. Before ordering or selling raffle tickets, review the current AGLC Raffle Terms & Conditions to ensure your tickets and raffle comply with the applicable requirements

Raffle Ticket Printing

Running a raffle requires more than printing and selling tickets.

In Alberta, raffles are regulated by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). A raffle generally requires a licence when people pay for a chance to win a prize.

Before ordering raffle tickets, make sure your organization understands the AGLC requirements that apply to your raffle.

Sequentially Numbered Raffle Tickets

Need every ticket to have a unique number? We can add sequential numbering to your tickets.

Numbering makes it easier to track ticket sales and match ticket stubs during a draw. Tell us the starting number and quantity when you place your order.

If your ticket has a tear-off stub, we can place the corresponding number on both portions where required by your design.

Perforated Ticket Stubs

Add a perforated tear-off section when you need to separate part of the ticket at admission, during a draw or for record keeping.

Perforation is available as an additional option when ordering.

Ticket Artwork and Preflight

Already have a finished design? Send us your print-ready file.

We preflight customer artwork before printing. If we find a problem that could affect the finished tickets, we will let you know before production.

Common problems include missing bleed, low-resolution images, incorrect sizing and artwork that is too close to the trim or perforation.

Need help setting up your artwork? Download our ticket template or ask us about paid file preparation and graphic design.

How to Order Custom Tickets

Choose your ticket size, quantity and finishing options. Upload your artwork when you order.

We will check your file and provide a proof when required. Once the artwork is approved, your tickets go into production.

Most standard orders are completed within 3–5 business days. Rush production may be available depending on our production schedule.

Pick up your finished tickets from our Calgary print shop or have them shipped anywhere in Canada.

Ticket Printing FAQs

Do you print raffle tickets in Calgary?

Yes. We print custom raffle tickets at our Calgary print shop. Sequential numbering and perforated tear-off stubs are available.

Do I need an AGLC licence before printing raffle tickets?

If people are paying for a chance to win a prize, an AGLC raffle licence is generally required in Alberta. The organization running the raffle is responsible for determining its eligibility, obtaining the correct licence and following the applicable AGLC rules.

What is total ticket value?

Total ticket value is the total dollar value of all tickets available for sale, not simply the amount of money you expect to raise. For example, 2,000 tickets offered at $5 each have a total ticket value of $10,000.

Can Grafix Media make my raffle AGLC compliant?

We can print your tickets to the specifications and artwork you provide, but we do not issue raffle licences or approve raffles. Your organization is responsible for confirming its requirements with AGLC before printing.

Can you sequentially number tickets?

Yes. We can add sequential numbering to event and raffle tickets.

Can you put the same number on the ticket and tear-off stub?

Yes. If your design requires matching numbers on the main ticket and stub, let us know when placing your order.

Can you perforate tickets?

Yes. Perforation can be added to create a tear-off ticket stub.

What sizes do you print?

Our standard size is 2″ x 8″. Contact us for other sizes or custom ticket requirements.

How fast can you print tickets?

Most standard orders are ready in 3–5 business days after the artwork is approved. Rush service may be available depending on our production schedule.

Can you help design my tickets?

Yes. If you do not have print-ready artwork, our graphic design team can help create or fix your ticket file.

Do you ship outside Calgary?
